Building Homes...Building Hope

Habitat for Humanity Vermilion is a Project Committee of the Lloydminster Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses are then sold with no interest charged.
Our goal is to provide families in need a "hand-up" not a "hand-out".

Open House Well-Attended

The Partner Family Open House held Feb. 3, 2010 was declared a success by Vermilion's Adopt-a-Home Committee Chair, Bryce Ashlin-Mayo. "We were thrilled that all the families that have already applied attended the open house; as well a few families wanting information also attended the evening event." So far, about 6 families are expected to complete applications before the final deadline of Feb. 24, 2010. At the Open House, Brenda Ritz, Marketing Chair, gave a power point presentation explaining many aspects of Habitat's operations, and Kathy Leckie, Partner Family Chair, gave more details about being a Partner Family.

The Vermilion Project Committee also met that evening to review several house plans that Construction Chairs, Barry Gordey and Clint McCullough, presented. Once the final steps of acquiring the building site have been completed and the Partner Family has been selected, the committee and the family will make the final house plan selection.
