Building Homes...Building Hope

Habitat for Humanity Vermilion is a Project Committee of the Lloydminster Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses are then sold with no interest charged.
Our goal is to provide families in need a "hand-up" not a "hand-out".

Official Go-Ahead

Habitat for Humanity Vermilion has received the official go-ahead from the Lloydminster "On the Border" Society. "We are excited to be beginning the actual building part of the first ever Vermilion Habitat House, and feel that we are ready in every way that is possible at this time," says Bryce Ashlin-Mayo, Chair of the committee. To celebrate, a Kick Off Block Party will be held (see the invitation on this web site), thanks to George and Phyllis Webb's excellent planning skills. Barry Gordey, Building chairperson, says, "If all goes according to plan and the weather cooperates, we will be starting the build on April 16!"

Fund raising is still on-going. About $25,000 in cash and gifts-in-kind are still being sought. Vermilion continues to show its caring and generosity through cash donations and by hosting fund-raisers such as the Ten Friends Pie Sale (see information on this web site)

Volunteers can still sign up, and those of you who have been helping, but haven't yet officially signed the forms, please do so as soon as possible, so that Habitat can keep you "in the loop". Anyone participating in the actual build will be given advance instructions and safety training, so Habitat needs to know who you are and how to contact you!

Dawn Knudsen, Tiffany, Chantele and AJ, the Partner Family, have already put in some of their volunteer hours, and will be seen at the Kick-Off and volunteering at a variety of Habitat events, as well as on the build.

As the excitement builds, be sure you are part of this event. Contact Linda Jacejko, at 780-853-5497 to find out how you can help provide decent and affordable housing!
